When did you start at UC Blue Ash and what are your current responsibilities?

I started at UC Blue Ash in February of this year as the Digital Marketing Coordinator! I manage the official photos and videos for the college as well as running our social media. So, you will likely see me at most events with a camera in my hand! I film and edit interviews and student testimonials to help tell the UC Blue Ash story. I also help with the Thursday Announcements e-newsletter that is sent weekly to students, staff, and faculty.

What is your favorite thing about working or teaching at UC Blue Ash?

One of my favorite things about working at UCBA is telling the story of a truly inspirational place. So many people I talk to, or interview, talk about how UCBA feels like home. The people are genuine and proud to be here, and it has been a joy to get to share that feeling on our social media sites! I also love the variety in my role. I might be filming a pie in the face video one day, and an interview with an award-winning alumnus the next!

Is there a current/recent book or podcast you’re enjoying?

A recent book I love and recommend to everyone I can is FantasticLand by Mike Bockoven! It is a horror novel told through a series of interviews with survivors who were trapped in a theme park by a hurricane. The novel explores their descent into madness very similarly to Lord of the Flies or Yellowjackets if you are a fan of either of those!

A podcast I cannot recommend enough and never leaves my listening list is You’re Wrong About with Sarah Marshall! You’re Wrong About explores misunderstood events in history and how the media got them wrong. Some of my favorite episodes include “The McDonald’s Hot Coffee Case” and “Flight 571: Survival in the Andes”. Other podcasts in my rotation include This American Life, We’re Here to Help, and anything from Serial!

What kind of hobbies or activities do you pursue outside of work?

I am an avid reader, painter, and movie watcher! My boyfriend Tyler and I both studied film in school and love watching and discussing movies. We have a standing Tuesday movie date at the AMC every week! I love to read (currently on a horror novel kick), and paint. We recently moved into a new apartment, and I have been working on painting artwork for all of our walls! When I’m not doing that, I’m usually spending time with friends and family, exploring the city (especially the food scene), or hanging out with our new Siamese kitten Hugo!

Is there a fun or interesting fact you would like to share about yourself?

During the summer of my senior year, I had the incredible opportunity to complete an internship in Luxembourg with Miami University’s study abroad program! My role focused on filming and editing videos about Luxembourg’s culture and history designed to help future students prepare for their trips. It was an incredible experience where I got to live with a host family and travel each weekend. While there I traveled to Belgium, London, Paris, Rome, Lake Como, and Florence. My favorite memory while there was taking a boat out to Ponte Della Civera in Lake Como and bridge jumping into the clear blue water below!
