Why study Liberal Arts : Sociology?

Sociology is the scientific study of society, various groups that make up a society, and the structure of societies. Sociologists develop theories about social behavior and apply them to examine social change and solve social problems. Sociology majors develop strong research and analytical skills that can be applied to a diverse range of professions, including market research, social policy creation, data analysis, social services, project management, and human resources, among others.

Admission Requirements

The program is open to all students with a high school diploma from an accredited high school or GED and the desire to succeed in college. Although admission is open, students accepted into the program must meet the academic standards of the program to graduate and to advance to upper levels of study. 

This track will prepare students to transition to the sociology bachelor's degree in the College of Arts and Sciences. Sociology majors develop strong research and analytical skills that can be applied to a diverse range of professions, including market research, social policy creation, data analysis, social services, project management, and human resources, among others.
