Helene Arbouet Harte is a professor of education and department chair in the Behavioral Science Department at The University of Cincinnati, Blue Ash College. She teaches courses in early childhood and special education. She has worked in the community as a classroom teacher, center director, coach, content expert and consultant.

Her research interests include family engagement, engagement of young children in inclusive settings, the engagement of students in the college classroom, and equity in early childhood education.

Dr. Harte has served as a reviewer for manuscripts for several journals including Children, Youth and Environments; Children’s Geographies, Educational Studies and The Action Research Journal. She has served as reviewer of submissions for the American Educational Research Association Annual Meeting from 2013-2022.

Dr. Harte has authored or co-authored over twenty- five articles. She is also a co-author of several programs to engage families entering kindergarten including bornlearning Academy, A Taste of Learning and bornlearning communities.

Dr. Angela Miller-Hargis is an associate professor of education at the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash. She teaches coursework in educational foundations, child development, and literacy that includes an emphasis on cultural awareness, diversity and inclusion, and differentiated instruction. She is an educator and reading specialist with more than 18 years of elementary teaching experience in reading, literacy, and the English Language Arts. She has published articles in peer-reviewed journals such as the Ohio Journal of Teacher Education, The Journal for Research and Practice in College Teaching, The Reading Professor, and The Midwestern Educational Research Journal, and has published three book chapters. Her research interests include critical literacy, curriculum development, and equitable education in diverse classrooms. She currently serves as Secretary for the Mid-Western Educational Researchers Association.
