Dental Hygiene Program
The Dental Hygiene Program at UC Blue Ash was established in 1967. This accredited two-year program leads to an Associate of Applied Science Degree. Students are guided in the development of knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed for positions of responsibility in the oral health care system through laboratory, clinical, and class room experiences.

Mission Statement
The Dental Hygiene Program at University of Cincinnati, Blue Ash College, University of Cincinnati is committed to providing dental hygiene graduates with entry-level knowledge and skills that meet the roles of the profession as clinician, change agent, administrator/manager, researcher, educator or patient advocate. We will positively impact the community by supplying competent dental hygienists who are caring, knowledgeable and skilled; thereby improving the quality of oral health care received by the public.
The program will afford the students a variety of educational experiences and resources that are individualized to meet diverse learning styles. The teaching strategies will be grounded in a competency-based system consisting of a constructive learning environment within the scope of a two-year program. Evidence-based research will drive the curriculum to instill the ethical practice of dental hygiene and excellence in the teaching and learning environment to maintain public trust and community respect.
The faculty will be committed to enhancing our own knowledge and skill through continuing education and openness to new ideas, concepts and teaching strategies. We are committed to quality patient care through continuous assessment of our constituency needs, providing faculty development opportunities and on-going curriculum revision.
Student Learning Outcomes

The dental hygiene graduates will be able to identify, analyze, and synthesize the ethical, legal, and regulatory issues related to the practice of dental hygiene.

The dental hygiene graduates will have the knowledge and critical decision making skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate programs and activities to benefit the overall health and well being of a diverse population.

The dental hygiene graduates will apply the knowledge of health and wellness to emphasize the prevention of oral accidents and oral disease.

The dental hygiene graduates will have the knowledge and critical decision making skills to assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate the clinical, preventive, and educational services of the dental hygiene care plan.
