Financial Aid Checklist

APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID Students interested in applying for financial aid must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The FAFSA is available starting October 1. Because some aid programs are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, an early application receives priority consideration for limited funding sources. List UC’s Title IV Code (003125) when filling out the FAFSA to ensure that UC’s Financial Aid office receives your information. Also remember that applying for financial aid is an annual process.

Complete a FAFSA online at fafsa.ed.gov. UC FAFSA code is 003125. Allow 4-6 weeks for processing.

Once you receive your Student Aid Report (SAR), review for corrections. If none are needed, keep in a file for future use. Once you have been admitted and you receive your SAR, check your Catalyst portal for your aid status. Once your aid has been accepted, complete loan counseling, and sign promissory notes online by visiting onestop.uc.edu.

Allied Health professor Heather Vilvens is program director for our Pre-Health Promotion and Education program, preparing students to pursue a career in a variety of fields related to public health. UC plans to add a Public Health bachelor’s degree beginning in fall 2021. Vilvens says the entry level epidemiology course she teaches is one of her favorites. Each year she finds a public health issue to use as an example for her students. In spring 2020, COVID-19 spread quickly and unfortunately it provided a realtime look at a pandemic.

“My students were able to see first-hand many of the principles of epidemiology in action. Risk assessments, incidence rates, public health policies, travel bans, quarantine, and more came to life right before our eyes!”

Professor Vilvens received UC’s 2020 Provost Award for Faculty Excellence – a recognition for embodying the principles of a just community through civility, honor, inclusion, integrity and the promotion of justice.
