Success with an Accent: A Hispanic Perspective

Free presentation at UC Blue Ash on 11/6/18  

Rafi Rodriguez’s remarkable story started in San Juan, Puerto Rico and continues today in the Greater Cincinnati area. He is an honored military veteran, a recipient of the President’s Bronze Volunteer Medal – Presented by President George W. Bush, and a successful business owner.

Rodriguez will share his 12 proven lessons for success and offer an inspirational message in a presentation at UC Blue Ash College titled Puerto Rico’s Discovery Celebration! Success with an Accent: A Hispanic Perspective.

The event takes place on Tuesday, November 6 from 6:00–8:00 p.m. in Muntz Hall, Room 170 on the UC Blue Ash campus. A reception with free snacks and refreshments will be held from 5:30–6:00 p.m. The presentation and reception are free and open to the public.

“Through hard work, determination and perseverance I have been able to fulfill my own American dream,” says Rodriguez. “I want to inspire and guide others on how they can achieve their dreams.”

Rodriguez served 26 years in the U.S. Air Force before retiring as a Colonel. Since then, he has continued his service to others by giving back to his community. He has received numerous awards and honors for his military and community service. They include his induction into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame, the Outstanding Leadership Award from the Dayton Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and his recognition as United Way Board Member of the Year by the Dayton, Ohio chapter.

Puerto Rico’s Discovery Celebration! Success with an Accent: A Hispanic Perspective is coordinated by Maria Ortiz, a professor of Spanish in the Foreign Language Department at UC Blue Ash and a native of Puerto Rico. Funding is provided through Experiential and Service Learning Mini-Grants.
