UC Blue Ash Sets Record (Again) for Largest Incoming Class

For the second straight year, the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College is welcoming the largest incoming class in school history.

There are 1,555 students in the fall 2018 freshman class, which tops the previous record of 1,394 students set last year. Total enrollment for UC Blue Ash this year is 4,870. This news follows the recent announcement by the University of Cincinnati that it has set a new enrollment record for the sixth straight year.

“The back to back records for our incoming class at UC Blue Ash are certainly another indication of the overall growth of the UC brand,” says Robin Lightner, dean of UC Blue Ash. “They also speak to our growing reputation for providing an excellent education at our college that prepares our students really well, a supportive environment that focuses on student success and low tuition that makes it possible for students to graduate without debt.”

This fall marks the second straight year UC Blue Ash has welcomed a record freshman class.

UC Blue Ash is a regional college with in the University of Cincinnati. It has always been located on the same picturesque campus in the City of Blue Ash, but it used to be known as Raymond Walters College. That changed in 2011 when the UC Board of Trustees officially approved changing the name to UC Blue Ash College to emphasize the connection to the university.

“Our students are UC students. Our academic curriculum is aligned with the university and our students can live in the dorms at UC Uptown, join clubs and organizations, access the world-class libraries and enjoy the same benefits all UC students enjoy,” says Lightner.

The new branding for the college has helped attract more students, along with a more proactive and dedicated approach from the UC Blue Ash Admissions Office that includes regular contact with high school guidance counselors across the region.

There is also a buzz on the UC Blue Ash campus that comes from the ongoing growth and development. Progress Hall is a brand new, two-story building that opened in 2017 to provide more classrooms and faculty offices. Muntz Hall, the flagship building on the campus, is undergoing a massive renovation that includes new, modern classrooms, new spaces for students to study or relax between classes, and upgrades to the heating and cooling systems to make the 51-year-old building much more energy efficient.

The campus updates will accommodate continued growth as college leaders work to expand the academic offerings. UC Blue Ash offers more than 50 academic programs, including bachelor’s degrees. A new environmental studies associate degree program will launch in the spring 2019 semester and there is ongoing research into new programs that address needs in the community and meet student demand.
