UC Social Media Week.

Watch for some fun activities and events around campus during the week of April 3–7. It’s UC Social Media Week and we will be hosting events and a few contests to increase awareness about official social media sites across UC, including the awesome sites that serve UCBA on FacebookTwitter and Instagram. There will be a workshop that focuses on how social media can help or hurt your job search; it’s on April 6 from 12:30–1:30 in Muntz Hall 117. If you attend the workshop you can get a free professional head shot right after. There will also be a lot of games and prizes. Stay tuned!

Making Old Toothbrushes Cool.

Students in our Dental Hygiene program are making it cool to recycle dental waste, which includes old toothbrushes, empty toothpaste tubes, and old floss containers. The students have been conducting a recycling campaign to raise money for patients who can’t afford to have a dental x-ray as part of their oral check up. They’re gaining more attention after the Enquirer, WLWT-TV, and WVXU-FM picked up the story. Donations are pouring in, but they can always use more. Please remember to bring in your used dental supplies and drop them off in the recycling box near the Dental Hygiene Clinic on the first floor of Walters Hall.

Poets on Fire.

Congratulations to the winners of the 2017 UCBA Poetry and Song Writing Contest. Some of the winners performed at the UC Blue Ash College Poetry Café earlier this week. Angela Fleenor (pen name – Alice Addams) took first place in the college category of the poetry contest and Andrew Wood won first in the song writing contest. Thanks to English professor Rhonda Pettit for once again organizing the contest and the Poetry Café, and special thanks to Willis Music for again serving as the sponsor of the Song Writing contest and providing a new guitar to our winner. You can see all of the contest winners here.
