Cincinnati City Council Member Finds a Seat at UC Blue Ash

As a key part of her successful campaign for Cincinnati City Council, Tamaya Dennard highlighted the famous quote by Shirley Chisholm, the first African-American woman elected to Congress. Chisholm liked to say, “If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.”

Dennard will not just have a seat at the table, she will have the floor when she visits the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College for a presentation on Friday, March 23 from 12:30–1:30 p.m. in Walters Hall, Room 100. The event is free and open to the community.

Dennard is a proud graduate of Cincinnati Public Schools (Aiken High School) who studied abroad before completing her bachelor’s degree at UC’s Lindner College of Business. She has been named one of the Forty under 40 Leaders to Watch by the Cincinnati Business Courier and last year she received the Affirmed Award from the Urban League Young Professionals of Greater Southwestern Ohio.

In her presentation, Dennard will discuss her personal journey and its impact on her politics, as well as the growing movement to elect more women to political office at the local, state and national levels.

Anyone who plans to attend the free presentation is encouraged to RSVP in advance at
