Nationally Renowned Criminal Justice Innovator to Speak at UC Blue Ash – October 19, 2017


Nationally renowned attorney and criminal justice innovator, Jonathan Rapping will speak at the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College in a special presentation on Thursday, October 19 from 2:00–3:00 p.m. in Muntz Auditorium. The event is free and open to everyone.

The presentation is titled “Fulfilling Gideon’s Promise: The role of the public defender in criminal justice reform.” It is co-sponsored by the UC Blue Ash Student group Partners in Justice, the UC Blue Ash Behavioral Science Department, and the Hamilton County Public Defender’s Office.

Rapping is a 2014 MacArthur Foundation “Genius” Fellow and the founder of Gideon’s Promise, a network of public defenders who provide equal justice for marginalized communities. He is also a law professor at the John Marshall Law School in Atlanta.

“Mr. Rapping is a passionate advocate for criminal justice reform and an important voice in the national social justice movement. He is a dynamic and engaging speaker who appeals to students, faculty, attorneys and those who are interested in how to improve access to justice for the disenfranchised,” says Wendy Calaway, an attorney and criminal justice professor at UC Blue Ash who is coordinating the event.

This presentation is pending approval for one credit hour of professional conduct CLE in Ohio.
