Built in Blue Ash: Entrepreneur Event at UC Blue Ash – October 18, 2017


The next edition in the UC Blue Ash College Entrepreneur Speaker Series (ESS) will feature Carla Eng and Ryan Rybolt, two local business leaders who will share their insights on how they took risks, faced challenges, and seized opportunities to build very successful companies from scratch.

The event is free and open to everyone; it will be held on Wednesday, October 18 from 7:00–8:15 p.m. in Muntz Auditorium on the UC Blue Ash campus. A free reception will follow, where attendees can meet the guests.

Eng is president of Abstract Displays, a global force in the trade show industry that provides a wide range of exhibits for clients at sales and marketing events around the world. She and her husband, Michael Eng, founded the company 16 years ago and have grown it into a leader in the industry.

Rybolt co-founded Infintech in 2005 to revolutionize the payment processing industry. The company has grown dramatically in a little over a decade, with more than 7,000 customers across the U.S. and over $3 billion in annual credit card volume.

The event is designed to be informative and entertaining, with the guests interviewed on stage about how they became successful entrepreneurs. Kent Lutz, a business professor at UC Blue Ash and former director of the UC Goering Center for Family and Private Business, created the speaker series in 2014 and serves as the host. Audience members will also have the opportunity to ask questions of the guests.

The college is focusing on Blue Ash businesses for this edition of the speaker series as part of its 50th Anniversary celebrations. UC Blue Ash opened in 1967 and has always enjoyed a strong partnership with the City of Blue Ash, as the college has grown from an enrollment of 632 students to nearly 5,000 today. This event also celebrates the amazing business community that exists in Blue Ash, which is home to more than 2,000 companies and organizations.

The UC Blue Ash College Entrepreneur Speaker Series features successful business leaders from the region sharing advice for anyone who is or may become interested in operating their own business. Past guests include Jeff Wyler of the Wyler Automotive Group; Buddy LaRosa, founder of LaRosa’s Pizza; Craig Kurz, owner of Honeybaked Ham; Patty Brisben, founder of Pure Romance; and Tony Maas, president of The J.T.M. Food Group.
