UC Blue Ash Announces New Director for Office with a New Identity

Pamela Goines is helping lead a rebranding of the office she takes over at the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College. Goines is the new director of Accessibility Resources, the office formerly known as Disability Services.

The change in identity for the office is part of a broader effort by the University of Cincinnati to increase awareness about the free services provided and help more students feel comfortable taking advantage of these resources. “I believe the name change will open more doors for our students and remove any stigma that might have existed,” says Goines. “It puts more emphasis on what we do, not who you are.”

Goines notes that there is a long list of services provided through the Accessibility Resources Office that might surprise some people. They include help with test taking, classroom note taking, sign language interpreters, providing materials in large print or braille, training on voice recognition software, text help software and general coaching and counseling.

Goines comes to the role with a strong background in the field. She was manager of Disability Services at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College for the past three years, is owner of the New Horizons Center for Autism, and worked as an autism specialist for Cincinnati Public Schools for six years. She earned her bachelor’s degree in finance/economics from Tennessee State and has two master’s degrees, one in special education from Xavier University and another in an administrative specialist licensure from Miami University.

“Pamela brings ample experience in serving students, expertise in strategic planning and management, success in securing grant resources for students with special needs, and a commitment to continuous improvement,” says Greg Metz, who serves as assistant dean of academic affairs at UC Blue Ash and oversees the Accessibility Resources Office.

Along with leading the rebranding of the office, Goines’ top priorities will be working with the college community to increase awareness about the wide range of services it offers for students and showcasing the abilities of persons with exceptions.
