The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College will mark its 50th anniversary this year and it’s inviting the community to join in the celebration. UC Blue Ash College officially opened in September 1967, when 632 students were enrolled for the first classes on the campus, which was mostly surrounded by farmland. Today, it’s nestled in a park-like setting across 135 acres of green space in the middle of the thriving City of Blue Ash.

The college is planning a variety of events and activities throughout the fall and into next spring to celebrate the occasion. Community Day will be the official start of the anniversary observations. The event will feature information about the history of the college, a community banner that everyone can sign, free crafts and activities for kids, and free snacks and refreshments. UC Athletics will also be there with the UC Bearcat and a variety of raffle prizes, including free tickets to a UC football game.

“We’re very proud of our rich history and excited about our future as we continue to grow,” says Robin Lightner, interim dean of UC Blue Ash. “This event is really designed as a fun way to kick-off our 50th anniversary celebrations and thank the community for all of their support. It’s been critical to helping us fulfill our mission and make a positive impact in the lives of so many of our students.”

UC Blue Ash was the first regional college developed by the University of Cincinnati. It was created to increase access to higher education by opening a campus in a suburban setting with low tuition. Over the past 50 years, UC Blue Ash has grown its enrollment to approximately 5,000 students, making it the largest regional college campus in Ohio.

Ohio National Financial Services and McCluskey Chevrolet are the Presenting Sponsors for UC Blue Ash College Community Day.
