50th Anniversary Logo.

Congratulations to Maria Huls for designing the official logo for our 50th Anniversary. Maria and fellow students in the Branding & Identity course developed a variety of options for the logo under the direction of professor Lisa Timman and our Communications Department. There were multiple rounds of reviews and revisions before the winning logo was selected. The finalists were reviewed by the 50th Anniversary Planning Committee and the UC Brand Review Committee. Everyone felt the winning version stood out as an attractive and effective way to reflect our 50th Anniversary theme of Inspiring Student Success. Then. Now. Always.

There will be displays and information about our college, plenty of family-friendly activities, refreshments, and an appearance by the UC Bearcat. We will also host our 50th Anniversary Gala on September 28 starting at 5:30 pm here on our campus, and we plan to have UC Blue Ash College Day at the UC football game on October 7. More information coming soon.

Mandee Wins ADDYs.

Mandee Logsdon is a recent graduate of the UC Blue Ash eMedia program and she is now the recipient of two ADDY awards from the Cincinnati chapter of the American Advertising Federation. Mandee won a Student Gold ADDY (one of only 3 awarded) for her capstone project, a fashion magazine titled Apotheosis. She also won a Student Silver ADDY for her photography featured in the magazine. Mandee recently started a new position as a visual merchandising team leader for Target and is based in Austin, Texas. She clearly has a bright future thanks to the education and direction from our eMedia faculty and staff.

Dean’s Staff Forum – Updates.

Incoming Interim Dean Robin Lightner joined Dean Cady Short-Thompson to host the Dean’s Staff Forum this week. Key updates include:

  • With Deb Howard’s retirement, the UC Blue Ash Career Center will fall under the direction of Sarah Wolfe in Student Affairs. UCBA Business Professor Monica Widdig will teach the internship courses.
  • The search for UC’s new provost is underway with the goal of having a permanent provost selected by January.
  • A national search for the new dean of our college will begin soon.

Robin will officially become our interim dean in July.
Since this was Cady’s final Dean’s Staff Forum, staff members surprised her with a cake as a thank you for all of her contributions as dean of our college. She will be missed!

UC Serves.

It was the biggest UC Serves yet as more than 400 faculty and staff volunteered their time to help local organizations across the Tristate on May 19. From painting to gardening to helping build a new home, UC Serves again provided invaluable assistance to important projects in our community, while also leaving a lasting impression on those who devoted their time and energy. This is the fourth year of UC Serves and plans are to continue growing the program and providing more opportunities where we can give back. See photos and tweets from UC Serves 2017 here.

“Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it.
It flies with last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.”
