New Emeriti Leadership.
Congratulations to UCBA Professor Emerita Pat Mezinskis on her recent appointment as Director of the Emeriti Center at UC! The center is new for the University and joins other universities including Emory, Clemson, and USC, that have developed Emeriti centers on their campuses. Pat dedicated 25 years of her career to our nursing program as a professor and researcher. In her new role, she will work with the Emeriti Association Board, to increase the participation of UC’s Emeriti, including opportunities for continued research, presentations, and mentoring. Read more about her appointment here.
Top Dogs on Campus.
There will be more dogs than usual in our veterinary technology labs this weekend. The Cincinnati Veterinary Medical Association is teaming up with our vet tech program to host the 23rd Annual Canine Corps Health Clinic this Sunday, December 11. More than 50 working dogs from law enforcement and search and rescue agencies throughout the area will receive their annual physical exams. Several veterinarians volunteer their time for the event and some of our advanced vet tech students will assist with portions of the physical exams.
UC’s fall commencement takes place this weekend. We have 108 UC Blue Ash students who earned 113 degrees/certificates this fall; that’s up from 101 students/104 awards last year. The ceremonies are on Friday, December 9 for doctoral and master’s graduates, and for undergraduates on Saturday, December 10. Click here to learn more about the plans.
Chris Hummer credits the education he received at UC Blue Ash as the key to getting his educational and professional career off the ground. After spending two years at our college, Chris earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering from UC. Today, he works as a computational aerodynamicist for the U.S. Air Force at Wright-Patterson base in Dayton. Chris remains very loyal to his UCBA roots and serves as a member of our UC Blue Ash Alumni Council. His profile is featured on our website this month.
