Clinical research professionals help test and evaluate these products and procedures. Clinical research professionals can work at a pharmaceutical company, a medical device company, a clinical research organization, a medical center or an institutional review board.

What is Clinical Research - PB?

UC Advantages and Special Opportunities

The clinical research program offered at UC Blue Ash College provides a coordinator to aid students in selecting and scheduling courses and evaluating career goals. All courses are available in the evening, making it convenient for working students. Additionally, some courses are available in a distance learning format (online). Students will receive direction from many CRAs, study coordinators and clinical trial directors from clinical research facilities and firms as they serve as guest speakers in the program.

Students who successfully complete in the program will have documentation of their training and education in the form of a University of Cincinnati certificate in clinical research.

Special Programs

The program allows for maximum flexibility, with courses offered days and evenings as well as some offered in a distance learning format. Tutoring labs in study skills, writing, and science are available at no additional cost for students needing extra help.

Freshman Admission Requirements

Students are eligible to enroll in the clinical research professional certificate program if they have received a baccalaureate degree (BS, BA or BSN) and have taken the following es:
One year of college-level chemistry with grades of “C” or better
One year of college-level biology with grades of “C” or better
One semester of college algebra or college statistics with grade of “C” or better

Transferring to UC Requirements

Transfer applications are individually reviewed, and acceptance is based on receipt of application materials, as well as official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended. An official evaluation of transfer credit from other colleges will be processed after the student’s file is complete.

Credits are accepted from any institution currently accredited by any of the six regional accrediting agencies. Enrollment Services shall have discretionary authority to accept credits from other institutions in consultation with program directors or department chairpersons. Application of transfer credit to the student's program is at the discretion of the appropriate program director or department chairperson.

Changing Majors within UC Requirements

Students changing majors from other programs or colleges within UC will be considered based on the same criteria as outside transfers.

Graduation Requirements

To qualify for a degree or certificate, you must fulfill the requirements of the program from which you expect to graduate and must have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average. It is your responsibility to take the courses necessary for completion.  A student who changes programs or extends work beyond a one-year period must meet the published requirements of the program in the year of expected graduation.

You must complete an application for the certificate, usually the term before you expect to graduate. You should see your advisor for specific information well in advance of your final term.

Application Deadlines

Students may enter the program during any term. However, many courses are sequential and are offered only one term per academic year. Entering during spring term will extend the duration of the program beyond one calendar year.

Accreditation

The University of Cincinnati and all regional campuses are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
