Maria Huls: Leaving a Mark on UCBA History
“UC Blue Ash is celebrating 50 years of inspiring student success. What better way to do that than to get students as involved as possible?” - Maria Huls
Maria Huls graduated from the Applied Graphic Communication program at UC Blue Ash College in spring of 2017. She has left her mark on the college by creating the design for the 50th Anniversary logo that is being featured in a variety of ways throughout the 2017-18 academic year.
One of Many
Maria Huls' 50th Anniversary design was selected from dozens of submissions created by nearly 30 students in her advanced graphic communication course at UC Blue Ash. They were assigned the design project to study branding and identity.
The official 50th Anniversary logo incorporates the years, 1967-2017, with swoops in the number 50 that have been part of the UC brand identity for years. It also features an arrow in the zero that communicates forward movement.
“I was in shock when I was told that it was chosen. It was an extremely proud moment for me because it validated my career choice and my skills as a designer." - Maria Huls
Small School, Big Opportunities
Huls took full advantage of everything our college has to offer in her time here at UC Blue Ash College. She served as a peer mentor and an alumni mentee, worked in the admissions office and as a student ambassador, and she participated in our Study Abroad program in Australia.
"These are all things one would expect from a larger university campus, but they can get it at UC Blue Ash in a comfortable setting that is a great value."
“I learned so much from working this project that I can apply to future professional positions. I have so much confidence in where I will go from here.”
Huls looks forward to building on the education and experience she gained at UC Blue Ash as she pursues her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Graphic Design.
