UC Blue Ash College Professor Named one of the Top 15 in the Nation

October 30, 2013 – Professor Jennifer Wells, DVM, is being recognized as one of the best in her profession.  The Chair of the Veterinary Technology program at the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College was recently named one of the Top 15 Veterinary Technology Professors in the U.S.

The honor comes from VetTechColleges.com, an independent organization dedicated to providing informative content that addresses educational questions in the fields of Veterinary Technology and Veterinary Assisting.  Veterinary Technology students work toward an Associate in Applied Science degree as they learn how to provide general wellness care for animals, including vaccinations, diagnostic testing, and anesthesia  and surgery support.

There are some 1,000 Veterinary Technology professors who represent the 215 programs nationwide.  To earn one of the Top 15 spots, the educator must be experienced, highly credentialed, actively teaching, serving in a leadership role at their college, and actively involved in community outreach.

Dr. Wells, who lives in Colerain Township, is a practicing veterinarian who has been on the faculty at UC Blue Ash since 2002 and has been chair of the Veterinary Technology Department for the past five years.  She gives back to the community, while also providing hands-on training for her students, through the Pets in Need (PIN) program.  PIN helps low-income families in Greater Cincinnati access free care for their pets.

“Jennifer is a leader, innovator, and exceptional teacher,” said Marlene Miner, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at UC Blue Ash College. “I am delighted that she is receiving this important recognition; it’s well-deserved and it serves as another indication of our commitment to truly educating and inspiring our students.”

This recognition is just the most recent prestigious honor for the Veterinary Technology program at UC Blue Ash.  Earlier this year the program won the P&G Pet Care Award for Excellence in Team Teaching from the Association of Veterinary Technician Educators.

The Vet Tech program at UC Blue Ash will mark its 45-year anniversary in 2014, making it one of the most established programs in the nation. You can learn more here or call (513) 936-7173.
